Improvements

  • Hoopla search improved by checking through more potential matches
The Hoopla implementation was checking only the first 10 matches, which would sometimes lead to poor result matching for books/movies with common titles. This has been increased to including the first 50 results.
  • Detect and stop searching unsupported Cloud Library, Overdrive catalogs
Libraries often change their offerings, and this can lead to some of the digital catalog configuration being out of date. Cloud Library and Overdrive are digital offerings that we see quite often is no longer offered, and lead to failures that the user sees as 'endless searching'. These catalogs should now be properly disabled and reported back as inactive to our server.

Bug Fixes

  • Case LIB-255 Vufind catalogs all support the RSS search feed, resulting in improved search results (and less one-off code for certain library systems).
As part of the cleanup for this issue, it was determined that all current Vufind catalogs supported the RSS search endpoint. This allowed us to remove some special (and fragile) code that broken for certain libraries, such as Carnegie of Pittsburgh Library
  • Case LIB-255 Fixed the availability configuration for North Central Regional Library in Washington, USA
  • Case LIB-255 Properly return all matching results for grouped works in Vufind catalogs
Many Vufind catalog implementations are able to return back multiple items as a grouped work. The prior implementation for the item extraction would only return the last actual item in these grouped works. This now returns all of the various items and their availability
  • Case LIB-256 Goodreads books with multiple authors return all of the listed authors
A bug in the Goodreads implementation would only return the first author; this would lead to items not matching results properly if the library catalog happened to use only a second author in their listing. Goodreads items now properly extract all of the listed authors
  • Amazon book pages with certain layouts would not display results
Some of the Amazon book pages with alternate layout formats were not properly being identified as having books displayed. This has been fixed.

Known Issues

In Case You Missed It

  • The Library Extension now has the ability to display multiple matching results for physical catalogs
This new Beta feature will return all matching items for physical catalogs. Previously, only the first matching item was returned, even if no holdings were available. This behavior is now more consistent with how digital catalogs will return all matching items.
To enable this feature, open the Library Extension configuration page and choose 'General Settings'. Scroll down the list of displayed items until you see 'Beta Feature' with the description. Choose 'Yes, I want all possible matches to be displayed'
