New Features
-
Case LIB-243 Goodreads list pages now include the ability to search libraries for any of the individual items present.
The search is currently always 'on-demand' as this feature continues to be worked on
- Matching results for Bibliocommons catalog items may include some imprint information (eg, Large Print, etc) to help identify the type of match. This is especially useful if the user has the setting to allow multiple matches enabled (this feature will be actively prompted in an upcoming release).
Improvements
- Remove unused code for RBDigital. This digital catalog has been completely replaced by Overdrive following the acquisition, and is no longer available for any libraries.
- Cleanup how the Extension deals with 'sessions' for various providers. This was previously implemented inconsistently across various catalog implementations, leading to complicated code and tests.
- General code cleanup / removal of unused code. This should make the Extension a little more efficient (both performance and in terms of memory used)
Bug Fixes
- Case LIB-252 Stop searching for non-book items on Amazon pages. A recent update incorrectly removed one of the checks that made sure that item on the page was a valid book (or other similar media resource)
- ExLibris catalogs can handle some configuration situations. This was encountered and fixed for the Library of Virginia.
-
Case LIB-253 Add support for an upcoming update to the bookdigits.com website
In collaboration with the bookdigits.com team, we have updates to support their latest website refresh.
-
Fixed support for a number of sites that had updated their websites: bookclubz.com, bookdepository.com, booko.co.uk, bookoutlet.ca, bookshop.org, chapters.indigo.ca, fantasticfiction.com, hive.co.uk, smashwords.com, and wordery.com.
This update included a general cleanup to the implementations of the code that handles most of the websites
Known Issues
- No known issues in this release
In Case You Missed It
-
The Library Extension now has the ability to display multiple matching results for physical catalogs
This new Beta feature will return all matching items for physical catalogs. Previously, only the first matching item was returned, even if no holdings were available. This behavior is now more consistent with how digital catalogs will return all matching items. To enable this feature, open the Library Extension configuration page and choose 'General Settings'. Scroll down the list of displayed items until you see 'Beta Feature' with the description. Choose 'Yes, I want all possible matches to be displayed'
One more thing...
The Library Extension is provided at no cost, but it still takes time and effort to make this tool available to you. Consider supporting the Library Extension with a contribution to ensure that we can continue to bring these updates to everyone!
