February 16, 2020: 2020.216.1

New Features

  • Added support for RBDigital digital catalogs
  • Added support for BorrowBox digital catalogs

Improvements

  • Improved performance for Evergreen catalogs
  • Added support for libraries that are members of the SAILS consortium in MA, USA
  • Behind the scenes, we upgraded our scripts from Python2 to Python3
There's not much change for users that use the extension, but it allowed us to improve the tooling that we use to build, test, and release the Extension
  • Lots of behind the scenes code cleanup, improving some very old code
After almost 8 years of changes, some of the older catalog implementations have - well, let's just say that the code isn't as nice as we'd like it to be. We spent a lot of time in the last month addressing these deficiencies which should lead to a better Extension with fewer problems

Bugs Fixed

  • Case 8713 Fixed author extraction for WebPacPro catalogs
Some WebPacPro implementations put the author as an italicized line after the title (others in the line with the title, and others in an element that is designated as the author). We improved support for obtaining the author as well as cleaned up some of the code that finds the resource identifier.
  • Case 8601 Fixed availability counts for some SirsiDynix catalogs
Some implementations of VuFind used a different page element to store the identifier. This change makes it possible for the extension to find this value across multiple elements.
  • Case 8720 Fixed binding mapping for some VuFind catalog implementations
This is a common theme, where some implementations differed just enough to prevent correct availability counts from showing up.
  • Case 8318 Fixed a problem with some VuFind catalog implementation where the resource identifier was not found
Some implementations of VuFind used a different page element to store the identifier. This change makes it possible for the extension to find this value across multiple elements.
  • Case 8391 Fixed binding mapping, availability counts for Atriuum catalogs
The extension attempts to determine the type of resource in the search results based upon the binding text. This text was not being interpreted correctly for some Libero catalog implementations, leading to results not showing up when expected. An additional fix was added to properly interpret the number of copies that are available.
  • Case 8414 Fixed binding mapping, availability counts for Libero catalogs
The extension attempts to determine the type of resource in the search results based upon the binding text. This text was not being interpreted correctly for some Libero catalog implementations, leading to results not showing up when expected. An additional fix was added to properly interpret the number of copies that are available.
  • Fixed title extraction for some SirsiDynix Enterprise implementations
Some implementations of the SirsiDynix Enterprise catalog return the branches as the title due to the placement of the work 'title' in the response.
  • Fixed error reporting
The automatic error reporting was incorrectly...
  • Fixed availability counts for some Koha catalogs
Some implementations using Koha were misreporting the available count
  • Removed an old jQuery reference (this library was removed a long time ago to simplify and reduce the size of the application)

Known Issues

  • The Pause Mode button is not displaying currently; you can use On-Demand mode to get a similar behavior

Pause mode will be replaced by On-Demand mode altogether in an upcoming release

One more thing...

The Library Extension is provided at no cost, but it still takes time and effort to make this tool available to you. Consider supporting the Library Extension with a contribution to ensure that we can continue to bring these updates to everyone!
